Anyone heard from Gemma, or Erin? Or Gab in LA? Or anyone else we know that is in Southern Ca?

From the QuiltArt list-
San Diego has just put out a call for people to drop off food and water at designated spots for the all the people who have been evacuated (1/4 million estimated) - they have estimated over 500 homes lost - I have not heard from any of the Quilt Visions staff - most of them live right in the areas affected most - The mayor has asked no one travel on the roads or call on cell phones so emergency personnel can do their jobs - So I am waiting to hear any news from any of them that all is well. If I hear of any other coordinated efforts in California I will pass it on -

Here is the update since last night - you can get more at abc7.com -

ABC has asked people send photos of the fire taken by individuals - They showed a couple of Orange County, one of the Irvine fire, at night with the entire ridge on fire, another of the smoke hovering over Foothills Ranch), and LA times took a shot of the firemen coming out of their protective gear (the fire overtook them) - it is very real.

I live in Orange County and the fire has moved away from my area - the fire is now on the otherside of our ridgeline and in the national forests - so everyone is breathing easier right now. Our fire was arson. (Santiago Canyon - Siilverado Canyon Modjeska Canyon to Foothill Ranch) no homes lost - no injuries reported. (Orange County is between LA and San Diego) -

North of Lake Arrowhead - mandatory evacuation - 139 homes have burned down - another 2000 in danger at Lake Arrowhead with no containment in sight. No more news until later today when they can evaluated the situation. Ventura has a great deal of smoke -

Canyon fire Malibu started first - burned 1 church, 9 homes, and 5 business. They had 4 injuries - Mandatory Evacuations - 20per cent contained. It is moving away from Pacific Coast Highway and up the canyons -

LA County - Stevenson's ranch was in danger - the backfires got out of control. There are three separate fires which are expected to unite - Magic Mountain area, Castaic Fires North of Stevenson's ranch on highway 5.

fourth LA fire - Soledad Canyon Santa Clarita (Sand Canyon mobile homes on 14 Freeway, near Mint Road) is the newest fire - 32 structures were destroyed and 2 bridges - they had four injuries...

I have now heard that there are now 10 fires - and all southern california has been affected.

From the Akita Rescue list-
ALL VCA ANIMAL HOSPITALS IN SOUTHERN CALIF WILL OFFER FREE BOARDING FOR PETS FOR THOSE DISPLACED OR EVACUATED FROM THEIR HOMES.

IT'S ON NBC. CALL THE ANIMAL HOSPITALS FOR DETAILS

have 4 males and no kennels due to fires. They all were to be kenneled but no kennels available.

There are 2 females in Lancaster---the hooded 2 yr old and a fawn 11 mo old. Both good with other dogs.

I just got a call that Lancaster is being evacuated, too, so I do not know of the danger to the animals in that shelter.

These 2 Akita females are #A3739382 & A3739857. Can anyone get them out and take them in? These 2 are at risk.

Houses are just exploding here like fireworks but I am far enough west that we can just go to the ocean. We cannot drive east because all roads from here to there are closed. We have 0% humidity, strong winds, ash is covering everything, but we are safe.
All of my Akita fosters are safe with me. -Cheryl Waterford
