DUDE! How about some research before spouting off your nonsense next time????

So I check my emails and there's this Etsy Conversation from some ... idiot, in my opinion.

He claims my Persian chainmaille bracelet with Lampwork bead (that I sold awhile ago, so why he was looking for it, I have no clue), is actually 'Boxchain'.

"Hey guy,

just wanted to let you know... in case you make another one, this is not pursian weave. It's a boxchain. Have a good day.

"

Err, yeah.  Wrong bud.  Do some reasearch and you'll see that Persian and Boxchain, are one and the same weaves.  One is the historical name, the other the more mainstream name. Oh, and that I'm not a 'guy'.

I replied..

" Boxchain is also known as Persian Chainmaille. I am a Society of Creative Anachronism member, I think I know my chainmailles.
04-08-2006 05:40 pm EST "

Yes it was terse, but dude, if you're going to attempt to correct someone on something, then know what the Hel you're talking about!

He came back with this, and it's all downhill from there...

"Wow! Take a pill guy!
04-08-2006 06:01 pm EST "

"BTW, your "Society of Creative Anachronism" got it wrong!!!
04-08-2006 06:03 pm EST "

Me-

"First, I am not a guy. Second, read my profile next time. Third, do a little research before sending someone something like this.

Persian Chainmaille is known, first and foremost as Persian Chainmaille. When it hit the 'mainstream', it became known as BoxChain because it sounded 'cooler'.
04-08-2006 06:05 pm EST "

And he could have left it at that, abit wiser perhaps, but noooo.......

Him-(at the same time as I was typing up my next reply)
"Looks nothting like the persian chain I do... Nothing! I was just trying to be nice and you act all snooty! Boxcahin is not the pursian weave, I learned how to do. You have a good day!
04-08-2006 06:08 pm EST "

Me-
"So you're telling me that thousands of years ago, the PERSIANS who actually created this, 'got it wrong'.

The Society for Creative Anachronism is a history based re-enactment group. They rarely get things of this nature wrong.

And this -
http://www.mailleartisans.org/articles/articledisplay.cgi?key=168 is what *I* create.

Do a search for 'Boxchain' and see what you get. Here, let me help you with a few links to start-

And another.

Do you get the point now?
04-08-2006 06:14 pm EST "

(Ok, so it may not have been 'thousands' of years ago, but hey, if he's not willing to even bother with doing the least bit of research, how will he know?, besides, at this point, I was getting abit irked.)

"If it looks NOTHING like the so called Boxchain YOU do, then that means MY stuff looks nothing like what YOU do. SO why in the world are you trying to tell me I'm wrong?????
04-08-2006 06:15 pm EST "

Him-
"Looks nohting like the persian weave I do... is what I said! Save your links, I don't need them.
04-08-2006 06:18 pm EST "

(Like I said, totally unwilling to even bother with any research. But look! He spelled Persian right! Wow!)

"you have too much time on your hands... I'm very busy, do you mind???
04-08-2006 06:19 pm EST "

(Buh? What????)

Me-
"Look bud, YOU came to ME, telling ME *I* was wrong. So it seems to me, YOU are the one with too much time on your hands.

Looking up a few links took me all of 60 seconds. Seems to me that's not a whole lot of time.

And I'll say it again, if my weave looks NOTHING like what you do, then why are you telling me I'm wrong??? Because obviously, you know nothing about my weaves.
04-08-2006 06:22 pm EST "

Him-
"OMG!!!!!!!!
04-08-2006 06:35 pm EST "

Me-(thoroughly enjoying myself by this point, he wants to be an asinine imbecile, well, I'll give him some shit to  stew about while he's at it.)
"Get a life. You don't even *have* Persian listed, so what are you complaining about?

At least you got the Roundmaille and Byzantine named correctly.
04-08-2006 06:42 pm EST "

Him-
"You need to get off on someone else OK? And your work looks nothing like mine, even when doing the same weave... You may have got the "history" right But your designs suck, I think they are selling creatinity on this site too, you should buy some... now leave me the fuck alone already! And I never said I had a persain chain in my shop you stupid ass! Here nosy... flip your nose at these!

04-08-2006 06:48 pm EST "

Me-
"Again, if my work looks nothing like yours, then WHY did you convo me complaining about it????????
04-08-2006 06:58 pm EST "

Him-
"I did not and was not complaining... I simply was giving information I thougt you could use... I was wrong, big deal... I just glanced at the piece for heaven sake! I meant it as a kind jesture, if it insluted you then thats on you... ????? now, please leave me alone!
04-08-2006 07:04 pm EST "

(Leave you alone? Dude, you fucking started it by telling me I was wrong!)

Me-
"You want something to 'flip your nose at', then here, let's see you list something like this-

http://www.etsy.com/view_item.php?listing_id=246305

Or even this-

That's TURKISH, for your information.

Here, here's a couple of (bad) closeups for you-

Once upon a time, I admired your shop. Now I see that you are an immature imbecile who feels threatened by someone who creates chainmaille in weaves you obviously know nothing about. I pity you.
04-08-2006 07:07 pm EST "

Him-
"Insane!
04-08-2006 07:08 pm EST "

(Insane? Insane is you insisting you are right and that I am wrong.)

Me-
"The insult was the fact you did not bother to be polite about it. You came in here throwing your weight around, acting all high and mighty, 'I know what I'm talking about! And you're wrong!' attitude.

And you expected me not to be insulted? Right. Gotcha.

How about asking a question about the weave next time, instead of stating that I don't know what I'm talking about. Hmm??? Or is that too far above your comprehension?

Leave you alone? Oh, honey, YOU brought this on yourself with your asinine first message, and every subsequent message thereafter, including the ones insulting my designs.
04-08-2006 07:10 pm EST "

And he's still sending me stupid little messages, 'ROTFL", "My GOD, your hystical", etc.   and yet... *I* have too much time on my hands....???

My parting shot, and I now wash my hands of him, because it's gotten very old.-

"I thought you were busy?

Silly me, thinking you might actually be serious about that.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some fabrics to rinse out for a *gasp* custom dye request.
