For those who have missed it.. The Sun! The Sun!

DyeHard visit...

Sat, a member of the Dyehard email list was heading to Virginia to visit family and friends and came to meet/visit me. WooHoo!

They showed up around 1-130pm. We immediately absconded up to the Studio after introductions to Mark. I was instructed to show off my dyeing projects and pieces, and was duly praised for them.}:P

After a few hours of talking 'shop', we went to Awful Arthur's for a late lunch/early dinner, then dropped Mark off back at home. Then we headed to Micheal's, then up to the Star.

Mary had been in this area before, having family further west. But Mya had never been this far west into Virginia, so this was a real treat for her.

After the Star, we headed to AC Moore, in search of Pearl Ex powder.  After looking for nearly 25 minutes, we found a single bottle in the wrong dept.  That threw us until I decided to act on a hunch and look in the art dept. There we found the whole gamut of powders. Unfortunately, they only had one sample set of Series 1, so Mya got that. But today I saw both sets (series 1 and 2) at Micheal's so tomorrow, I'll go back and get them.

After we got home, we absconded upstairs again, where I displayed my chainmaille pieces and beadwork and we talked more about dyeing and art quilts. We discussed Tyvek and it's uses in artquilts. Mya had never tried it before, so I got to show her how to manipulate it with an embossing gun and an iron.

I made up a few pieces in colors she chose, to send home with her, so she could use them in various artquilts.

I also gave both her and Mary a yard of hand dyed fabric. Mya gave me a Creative Versa Tool  that I've been playing with on the Tyvek}:P Mary left me empty tubes that I can store beads in as well as a few square containers perfect for dyeing in.

It was quite fun talking 'shop' so to speak, with someone who completely understands exactly what I do. We now have a standing invitation to visit her in Maine sometime, too.}:P

And Mya called Mark sweet! O.o

Obnoxious is...

I finally figured out what 2 colors to use for my 10th 2 color run in the 'series' of pieces I'm doing. Procion MX Hot Pink and Procion MX Chartreuse.

(2 color Run Series VI:Obnoxious is as Obnoxious does- Procion MX Hot Pink to Procion MX Chartreuse 2 color run, 8 step)

Believe you me, it's obnoxiously BRIGHT. Brighter than it shows up here, the green is more yellowy green and the pink is definately bright hot pink. Not just ugly, but FUGLY [to me]. But someone somewhere will invariably love it, I'm sure.

Started back to working at the store 2 weeks ago. Surprising I'm enjoying it this time. Mostly because I set my hours. As long as the paperwork is done and the deposit is taken to the bank in a timely fashion, I stay as long as I need/want, practically. The pay is alot better this time around as well. I like not having to worry about the shifts being covered, etc. And my first paycheck is a nice little chunk of money as well.

Insanity Reigns...

(Aries helping with cutting up fabric squares, July 2006)

So I mentioned I had plastic over my design table. Well, I still do. Why? Because I needed more black fabric squares and still didn't want to pick up the design until I was statisfied with it. So I have nearly 300 2" squares carefully laid out on the design table.

(2 Color Run Series V: Darke Sunne laid out on design table- Procion MX Silk Black to Procion MX Golden Pineapple, 8 step run)

No, it won't be 'square', it will have 'points' of a sort, and I'm hoping to have a finished piece approx. 44" 'square', as I have a 'plan' for this piece. More on that in the weeks to come. Especially if it works out.

Gratuitous Pet Photos...

(Max and Nyx, July 2006)

No idea what was so engrossing to Max. Personally, I think he fell asleep while watching Nyx make his nest/bed in the corner of his home.

(Rufus, July 2006)

Rufus nose!  She's calmed down quite abit. No more cage rattling at night. Still snorts at me tho. Still shoves her bedding everywhere in the cage. Still scarfs down her food.

(Puck, 2006)

We have noticed that since we got Rufus and put her cage next to Puck's that he's alot more active. Which is good, as it means he's less lonely and not as bored anymore.}:)

(Dante-Inu, July 2006)

Dante, despite being a sneak and a disobediant pup, is still doing quite well. Here she's chewing happily on a fresh RMB (raw beef soup bone).

(Aries, July 2006)

Aries, unlike Max and Dante, was thoroughly fascinated by the neighbors' fireworks.  Go figure.

On another note, LJ Cuts, the Indents and so on, are really screwy and seriously needs to be fixed. This is ridiculas. I should not have to code nearly my entire post because the LJ cut, etc shit doesn't work properly.
