Company voluntarily recalls rawhide dog treats amid salmonella outbreak

As we've been learning over the last few weeks, pet products aren't immune to the concerns over peanut butter and peanut paste, ingredients connected with a recentsalmonella outbreak. <http://www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/salmonellatyph.html>

Manufacturer Salix has
announced a voluntary recall of its Healthy-hide Deli-wrap 3-Pack 5" Peanut Butter-Filled Rawhide dog treats, which were found to contain peanut butter from the Peanut Corporation of America processing plant deemed to be the source of the outbreak.

The treats were sold at PetSmart, Target and Wegmans stores throughout the U.S. and Canada and bear the UPC code 09109333354.

Flavors of
Grreat Choice dog biscuits from PetSmart <http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/unleashed/2009/01/petsmart-recall.html> and Happy Tails dog biscuits from Albertsons <http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/unleashed/2009/01/webclawer-truff.html> and Jewel-Osco stores <http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/unleashed/2009/01/aspca-warns-dog.html> are among other recalled pet treats containing ingredients from the Blakely, Ga., plant.

Amanda Palmer weirdness. There's been a lot of "wtf" with my darling Amanda lately -- starting with her record company saying she's too fat. (wtf?) Anyway. Amanda wrote a song about ... well, I'll let you figure out what it's about. It's a great song and Pope made a wonderful video of it. And there's been so much adversity about it. It had to be recut right off the bat because people were unhappy with it. Then the version that was released has been up and down because of some weirdness between Roadrunner Records and Youtube and now Amanda's in England and she gets off the plane to the news that nearly every media outlet in England has officially refused to play the song. Seriously. It's not that they're just not playing it, it's that they've bothered to pick up the phone and make a call and say "we are actively not going to play this song because we are upset with the words in it. People are afraid of words, they're afraid of sounds. They're afraid of a bubbly pop song because it mentions serious subjects in a way some people don't find serious enough.

wtf people? I'll wager that Amanda Freaking Palmer knows more about the mind of a 17 year old girl than the folks at Kerrang!, and if those girls are upset with Amanda's words, they're not demonstrating it very well, judging by the sold out crowds.

Anyway. The video The Man Does Not Want You To See. Dangerous ideas ahead.

Amanda posted a list of the people who are too afraid of her song to play it. I reproduce it here
p.s. these are the outlets refusing to play the video or air the song on radio. feel free to help me get the song on air. be nice to them.
they’re just people. write them a letter and tell them how you feel. request the song. if you want, tell them about your rape and abortion.
you know….hug it out!
if you’re from the uk, tell them so, and where. if you’re from elsewhere, just….i don’t know, hug it out internationally. thank you guys.

PSA Missing Child

This just came from one of our local Barons.... Please keep your eyes out. The girl is from Oklahoma and headed to California they suspect. Pictures at the link.

Sorry for the non-SCA subject...

Our 14 year old niece (Deborah Kalai Fourzan) has been taken by an unrelated
40 year old man (James Reimer) who robbed his work's safe the night before
the abduction. The following link is to the Missing Kids website where their
pictures are posted. It is believed that they are heading to California. If
you see them please let us know. If you have the opportunity to print and
display the poster from the website we will be eternally grateful.

If you cannot get it from that link use the following and search for a
female from Oklahoma named Kalai.
