I realise that you both have a difference of opinion in regards to ArtFire.
That is your perogative.
But, from my point of view- ArtFire appears to be turning into another Etsy already. I personally don't NEED another Etsy. I have, besides my Etsy shop, I have a MyShopify, a BigCartel (which seriously needs updating, whoops), an eCrater, AND a DaWanda shop which annoys the crap out of me with having to convert the money on everything.
All of which I don't keep up as I should. All of which I signed up on AFTER they'd been around longer than a few months.
And did I mention my DeviantArt account, the MyArtProfile account, the TalantDatabase account, the uSESSIONS, the Indiepublic, the HandsonHeaven, the CraftyNation site, as well as the various blogs and journals I have ... none of which I keep up as well as I really should.
While I respect the fact you both differ on your opinions of ArtFire, that you both have had vastly different experiences, please understand that I DO take everything you say at face value, that I DO read everything both of you have sent me, that I DO research shop sites before I jump in, and generally wait until the site is 6months old if not older before joining.
However, my opinion is that ArtFire is becoming another Etsy in the allowing of commercial products without any attempt at anything handmade in or on them. Etsy is really bad in this regard, as you both know quite well.
There also seems to be A LOT of bashing in both sites' forums. There's a reason I've avoided the Etsy forums since late June, and it's not because of Dante passing. It's because between the forums and LiveJournal, I'm really tired of the drama. I don't NEED any more drama in my life, thank you.}:)
So while I wish nothing but the best for both of you in whatever venue you sell in, and anyone else, I won't be joining ArtFire anytime soon.
In closing, have a Caena pic. She always makes people smile.
