Actually what I wrote was aggression towards people, dogs and kids. And if you read several Akita books, as I did, a few of them did point out aggression towards people and children. You may also find additional sources on the web regarding Akita attacks.
In addition, as you know, it is important to meet the parents to gain an idea of the dogs temperament, which I did. Still, an animal is an animal, so there should always be concern when it comes to other people and children"
I'm going, what the fuck is this tripe for? Then I respond with the following-
"I have no clue why you are sending me this, but I will address it.
Attacks by Akitas on people are generally due to poor breeding, and poor training. And they are fewer and farther between than you make them out to be.
Most Akitas are extremely protective of their humans. Japanese Royalty used Akitas to guard their children from the day they were born.
Akitas also score very high in temperment tests.
I would suggest you read up on the REAL history of the breed. not some book that 'claims' to know about the breed.
Yes, they have been known to be dog aggressive, that is what is known as a breed trait. However, very few are actually human aggressive unless trained that way.
Yes, Akitas should be watched around children and strangers. ALL dogs of ALL breeds should never be left alone with strangers or children.
But I honestly would prefer to leave an Akita alone with a child before I left any other dog alone with one.
I have had my Akita for 12 years. I did 2 years worth of research before I got her. I had experience with the breed first hand in Japan.
Do not ever assume I do not know what I am talking about."
NOTHING pisses me off more than people assuming I know nothing about the breed I've had experience with for over 14 years.
And then I read in her Dogster page, under Arrival story- "My boyfriend and I were always visting pet stores and playing with the puppies. Originally, we decided on a Siberian Huskie but on one trip, we saw an akita pup. My boyfriend fell in love with the breed. I was a bit skeptical due to their aggressive tendancies toward people, dogs and kids. After some more searching, we found a breeder with a new litter. She was one of 10 ..."
Yeah you bitch at ME about something you have no clue as to what you are talking about, and yet you buy a puppy from what amounts to a backyard breeder?!? And way to perpetuate myths about the breed you claim to have fallen in love with.
