And this particular news piece spawned it- http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,174
Now if people will read carefully, it does not say it *has* happened, it says it *may* happen, and *may* happen today.
As of now, there are no new posts pertaining to the truthfulness or falseness of said rumor in either the LJ News board or the
lj_maintenance board. The only thing the Maintenance board even says is that there is a *rumor* going around causing people to archive their accounts.
So in my opinion, until Live Journal confirms or denys it, chill out already.
EDIT!!!- Seeings how LJ is neither confirming or denying, here's what Six Apart says-

My question is, will our subscription rates stay the same?
Hmm...

Q. What is going to happen to LiveJournal and its current users? A. We acquired LiveJournal because we like LiveJournal just the way it is -- it's an awesome product. We will invest in the further development of LiveJournal and help it expand its reach around the globe but our plans do not include removing the free level, plastering the sites with ads, owning user content, etc... We think the LiveJournal community is unique and vibrant. We welcome LiveJournal users to the Six Apart family, and promise to keep the LiveJournal culture and quality which has earned their devotion. Doesn't answer the question of rates tho, let's continue to read...
Nope nothing there, let's try here...
LOOK!!!--->>>Now that LJ news has *finally* graced us with a post on it.

LiveJournal won't become paid-user-only or anything crazy like that. We're not going to raise prices. We're not going to cancel permanent accounts, etc, etc. And we're not going to spam or sell your information. You own your journals, not us. Really you shouldn't see any negative changes. The most immediate changes will be that we'll start to get prettier... more styles, themes, etc. Six Apart is really good at that and we're not.
Ok but that's according to the *former* owner. Heh. I guess we'll see, huh? }:P
