My poor truck now has a dent in the bumper. Damn this rain. Damn the city for not keeping the oil cleaned up off the streets.
Went to make a truck payment. Was going to take the Parkway as per usual. Decided to cut about a minute off the drive and go up a side street. It had stopped raining about 30 minutes before I left, so the roads were still rather wet. I was going below the speedlimit, as I normally do when it rains, too many accidents in the rain in the past, and slowed down to make the turn, turn signal on and everything, started to turn and truck lost traction. All I could do was lock my wrist and hit the brakes, as if that would stop me from sliding into the car sitting at the stop sign. Luckily neither of us were hurt, although it didn't help my hand any.}:( Didn't even cause her airbags to deploy, which is good, cause Mark says that would have totalled her car.
Apparently there have been numerous accidents on that particular corner. I mean, the oil was everywhere, long streak of it leading down the road I was trying to turn onto and puddles all over the places. Very unsafe.}:( Cop tried to give me a ticket for failure to control vehicle and she(the woman I hit) asked why, when it was an unavoidable accident. I had to point the oil out to him and he agreed that when he got there, the roads were a good deal wetter and yes, they are very slick from the oil. So no citations were issued. Yay.
Her front driver's side quarter panel is screwed, will need replacing, may even need a new bumber, I think it was just black rubber, I hope anyway. Its going to cause my insurence to go up enough with the quarterpanel as it is. Thank gods for full coverage. All we have to replace is the parking light bulb tho. I'm not worried about the dent. I mean, its an '86 Chevy S-10 Tahoe 4X4, solid steel, very little could hurt it. heh. What amazes me about losing traction tho, is the fact that I have Pirelli Scorpian All-Terreign nearly new tires. I guess what kind of tire you have don't matter when it comes to rain and oil slicks. }:(
She was very nice about the entire thing tho, very understandable and even offered to go to court if needed to try to persuade the judge. Good woman, good soul. Wish we'd met under better circumstances. Need more people like her in the world.
Well off to make that Blueberry Clafouti for Mark as well as that Blueberry-Lemon Tea Cake for me. Yum.}:)
By the way, got a new Queensryche 2 cd set yesterday, LIve revolution, so I'm stuck on them fer awhile.}:)
