Been there 3 1/2 years and my first complaint from a total bitch that gives everyone there a hard time, either trying to accuse them of cheating her or by cutting in line. Cripes.
Went up to the Parkway Sunday, to the Roanoke River Gorge. A place I've been meaning to go check out for some time now. Took the fisherman's trail down to the river. Absolutely breathtaking. So quiet too, as it was just after a huge thunderstorm, whereupon I was sitting in my truck listening to the rain drum down and reading a good book (Kristin Britain, First Rider's Call). Took some gorgeous pictures of the river and rocks there. Then went on the Loop Trail. There's a 'pedestrian overlook' there that appears to be rarely used, and its so quiet and so soothing that I think i've found a new place to go meditate once in awhile. The loop trail seems to be only half used, the 'loop' part of it has vegetation rapidly encroaching on it, which says to me that not many travel it, especially since one section has a piece of lightening blast Oak laying across it and very little disturbance as to a new path leading around it. The sun shining through the raindrops on the Hemlocks was indescribable. Everything was so peaceful and vibrantly green that I didn't want to come out of the woods. I believe I'll make a ritual of going up there at least once weekly. Its a good little hike and will definately serve to get me back into shape.
Saw a friend, and I use the term loosely as he's never really called him that, of Ben's today. He was down from Lynchburg visiting another friend and came into the store to buy gas. Told him I hadn't seen Ben in over a week, and if he saw him to tell him hey for me.
Got home from work and Ben had actually called and left a message, not to me, but to both of us in general. Something about sportscards and such, wondering if we knew of anyone interested in them. I emailed him earlier, wasn't really interested in calling him. I guess he's been busy with work and his new girlfriend or something and that's why he hasn't wanted to hang out or anything. Not that I've been up to really hanging out lately, with my hand and wrist bothering me still.
Still can't put much weight on the wrist, the heel of my hand hurts and the top wound hasn't fully closed up. I figure when I can cross my fingers again, it'll be back to normal. Until then...
Max kitty is starting to get annoying with his over protectiveness. He even hears Dante, and he's instantly on guard, tail lashing. Goofy cat. He fairly sprints to be in front of me where ever I go, whether its upstairs to bed or into the kitchen. Its as if he thinks Dante is going to try to eat me or something. Even now, he's camped out next to me on my desk. Aries is sleeping in the window too. Course he's only there because Mark has food!
