Update on the hand..

Went to the followup appointment yesterday. After a huge mixup, seems there are 2 plastic surgeons with the same last name and the ER gave us the wrong phone number and address, we finally got to where we were supposed to be and were actually able to be seen yesterday about my hand.

Its still stiff, some of the fingers don't want to work as smoothly as they once did, more than likely from disuse than anything, and the wrist still hurts when I try to grip things or apply pressure or move it just right.
The wounds themselves are still tender and healing, granted its only been a week but I would have thought they'd have healed abit faster than this. Seeings how I'd never had this bad of wounds before, let alone stitches, I guess its par for the course. The palm itches like mad tho!

The Dr said there did not seem to be any nerve or tendon damage and in 2 weeks he wanted me to start rubbing vit e oil on them to help keep the scar tissue down. I go back in 4 weeks for a check up, and if there is significant scar tissue, he said he'd give me compresses to work it down. Thankfully he said there was no reason he could see as to me needing surgery, which I was deathly scared would happen. its bad enough that its going to be 6-8 more weeks before I have the full strength back, which means, that much longer before I can do any beadwork or chainmaille, let alone hold a needle hard enough to quilt! I can't imagine have to have surgery and than having to wait that much longer.
My hands are my life and that's why I'm going back again to make sure its ok, especially since I'm left handed.}:)
Its stiff and a little sore today. I can really tell the weakness in the fingers as they don't want to work as well when I'm typing. I'll be really glad when its healed tho.

Max cat is still sleeping next to me alot, Aries has taken up sleeping on the otherside of me so as not to feel left out. Dante is the same as ever, hates being confined, but its for one more day, so she'll deal with it. WE go back in 2 weeks for the next shot in her heart worm treatment, after the third one 24 hours later, hopefully we'll have gotten them all, and in 3 more months we can go for truck rides up on the Parkway again. I miss doing that with her.
