None so blind...

As those who REFUSE to see.

Went over to Ben's tonight to watch a few movies. Was watching 40 days and 40 nights and he questioned whether Lent actually was 40 days. It went from there into whether Noah was on the Ark for 40days/nights, etc. I told him that he needed to remember that the bible was written by a man for man, and tat he needed to read between the lines. When they say he built an ark, it took him years to build it and more years to gather the animals. I should have mentioned how long ago that book was originally written and reminded him of how many different versions there are these days. No one has any idea as to whether what is written there is the actual words their god may have or may not have said. But I didn't.
He thought for a few seconds and then said he could say something, but it would only piss me off. I just looked at him, silently and the thought that suddenly appearered in my head wasn't there are none so blind as those who can not see, but was there are none so blind as those who REFUSE to see. Followed closely by, my gods, if he would only open his mind just a little bit, imagine all the worlds of possibilities that would be open to him!
The path I follow is that of the Druids, not the modern day people who call themselves such, no offense, but those of old, who sought to constantly expand their minds, to learn as much knowledge as they could. Every thing new learned is abit more wisdom in my thinking. The more you learn the wiser you can become. To do so you must keep your mind open, and not judge things as they are, but learn to see beyond them, to the heart, the truth of the matter.
Sure I was raised Christian, but there were questions that had no satisfactory answers for me and so I searched for something better. I've read all about Wicca, have numerous friends who are Wiccan, I've attended Catholic Mass, I've participated in a Jewish Passover feast, I've been to a Baptist service, but none held more than simple learning, more knowledge gained, an insight into what others believe.
I know a little bit about alot of different religions and beliefs and to me, that is knowledge hard won and well worth the knowing. so when someone, like Ben, is so set i9n his ways, and can not see beyond what they were told was right, and what they were told was wrong, who can not see to the heart of things, it makes me pity them for the darkness they must find in their world.
If more people would just open their eyes to the knowledge that is out there for the taking, what a world of possibility we would live in.
